MedEd Connections Resource Guide: Blind and Visually Impaired (B/VI)
Providers
Providers are professionals who give direct specialized services or support to individuals with disabilities. Providers can work in schools, agencies, hospitals, or in the home. Early Intervention, which is a part of Ohio’s Department for Developmental Disabilities (DODD), refers to these professionals simply as providers. The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) refers to these professionals as related service providers. Some examples of these professionals include teachers of students with visual impairments, speech language pathologist, or occupational therapist.
