School Psychologist
School psychologists are uniquely qualified members of school teams that support students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach. They assist school teams with developing and implementing intervention strategies for students. A school psychologist shares expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. They participate in comprehensive evaluation, which determine a student’s eligibility for special education services. They also work with school teams to produce an evaluation team report (ETR) following the evaluation. Their role is to assess a student’s strengths and challenges. Additionally, they may request information about your child’s development and medical history in order to provide a comprehensive understanding of your child to identify assessments and any needed supports. They may perform language, behavior, academic performance, and cognition assessments.
