MedEd Connections Resource Guide: Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH)
Why Is My Toddler Who Is Deaf/Hard of Hearing Displaying Challenging Behavior?
Some toddlers who are deaf or hard of hearing (D/HH) may display challenging behavior, such as difficulty following directions, wavering attention, negative attitude, and disengaged or reserved behavior. This behavior may occur because the child does not understand what other people are trying to communicate or does not know how to communicate to others in turn. Language and communication access may improve these behaviors.
